baby boot camp

Mason,

We were fortunate to have Daddy home from work with us for the first two weeks of your life. For 14 blissful days, it was just the three of us, getting to know each other and learning how to be a family of three. Neither Daddy nor I left you during those two weeks, which we called "baby boot camp", only we're not completely sure who was the trainer and who was the trainee.

Those two weeks weren't all work--we had some fun, too. Daddy rocked you and sang to you.

He also developed extraordinary skills at burping you.

You and I cuddled and read books.

You fell in love with the bouncy seat, and sat with us at dinner some nights.

You enjoyed a few more baths.

We tried tummy time, and this is what happened.

We then moved you to a less comfortable spot, and you seemed to get the hang of tummy time and even enjoy it.

You amazed us during playtime with your ability to swat the toys hanging in front of you.

We went on our first family walk with your car seat attached to your awesome new jogging stroller, the BOB Revolution. You'll be going on jogs with us before you know it!

It was such a relief to escape from the rat race for a short while and nestle into our cocoon of joy with you. Yes, Daddy and I were tired and you nearly wore us out. But these two weeks as a new little family were some of our best!

We love you!

Mommy
